1.Our supply base is situated within integrated petrochemical industrial parks, offering several advantages. These include minimal energy consumption, high product yield, and low energy consumption per unit of finished product.
2.To reduce greenhouse gas emissions, our supply base has implemented activated carbon adsorption systems. Additionally, the main supply premises feature substantial greenery, with trees and lawns covering 30% of the total factory area. The existence of many green plants offsets part of the greenhouse gases generated.
3.To prevent groundwater pollution, our supply base has undertaken measures to enhance the quality of groundwater. This includes rain and sewage diversion reconstructions, systematic inspections of rainwater and sewage networks, and the repair and reinforcement pipelines to avert contamination risks.
4.Our supplier efforts also extend to water conservation, such as the adoption of technologies like condensed water recycling.
5.Our supply base is dedicated to noise reduction.
6.Measures are implemented to minimize dust. The approaches encompass advanced systems such as activated carbon adsorption and bag dust removal systems.
7.Furthermore, our supply base adheres to comprehensive protocols for the reduction and proper utilization of hazardous waste.
In the warehouse operations, we prioritize the reduction of packaging waste and the generation of dust resulting from packaging changes. Our efforts include recycling wastepaper, discarded packaging, old pallets, and expired inventory.
Our warehouse waste management includes sorting recyclable waste, such as old pallets, and transferring them to a centralized waste warehouse. Non-reusable waste like packaging bags and defective pallets are dealt with by the warehouse manager through documented procedures submitted for company leadership approval. The warehouse manager handles waste disposal agreements, maintains records, and supervises the process.
We've established a wastepaper recycling central warehouse, managed by a designated employee in the general office. Each unit has its wastepaper recycling sub-warehouse, overseen by a unit manager-appointed representative. Wastepaper is categorized into single-sided and double-sided used paper. Double-sided used paper is shredded by unit recycling managers and then sold to waste collection stations. Single-sided used paper can be repurposed as note paper or for drafting documents.
To further our commitment to reducing waste, reusing materials, and recycling, we've implemented water-saving measures and rainwater harvesting systems. Our efforts extend to minimizing plastics use across our logistics centers and delivery locations worldwide. Our ultimate aim is to achieve plastic-free warehouses.
Our goals for 2023 include reducing solid waste discharge by a minimum of 1% compared to 2022, increasing the waste recycling rate by at least 2% from 2022, maintaining a pallet recycling rate of no less than 50%, and sustaining a packaging materials recycling rate of no less than 50%.
We promote local sourcing to avoid long delivery routes and minimize pollution. We are also exploring alternative transportation options, including trains and electric trucks, to further enhance the sustainability of our supply chain.
We collaborate with maritime partners who actively contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. These partners offer decarbonization services that span our entire supply chain, reflecting our shared commitment to responsible business practices.
Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
Our water resources management is based on a 'starting from me, starting from myself' approach, emphasizing individual responsibility and water conservation. We promote the secondary use of water resources, prevent the discharge of harmful pollutants like chemical products into water, and implement other water-saving practices.
Our management framework operates on three tiers: company-wide, departmental, and individual. This comprehensive structure encompasses water use and conservation, assigning well-defined responsibilities and incorporating incentive and penalty mechanisms.
Aligned with our commitment, we've set a target: by 2023, we aim to reduce our company's water consumption per unit of output value by at least 2% compared to the base year of 2022.
We have welfare activities to pick up garbage, organize our team to pick up garbage on nearby mountains, sea and community roadsides every quarter, creating a clean environment for the public environment.
Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
We are taking measures to minimize energy consumption and decrease greenhouse gas emissions in our office environment. These measures include utilizing energy-efficient appliances and equipment, optimizing lighting and heating systems, promoting waste reduction and recycling, and encouraging our HB group employees to adopt sustainable commuting options.
The HB group purchases green electricity to reduce our carbon footprint. Our commitment to energy conservation extends to multiple aspects:
● Efficient Lighting:
Whenever ample natural light is available, we turn off or minimize artificial lighting sources.
● Power Management:
Office equipment like computers, copiers, and printers are powered off during periods of non-use.
● Power Off Policy:
When leaving rooms, our policy mandates switching off lamps, air conditioners, and office equipment.
● Air Conditioning Strategy:
During air conditioner use, we ensure doors and windows are closed. We maintain the thermostat at 26 degrees in summer and 18 degrees in winter. Additionally, turning off the air conditioner 20 minutes before the end of work hours not only minimizes energy consumption but also optimizes comfort.
● Reducing Paper Usage:
Embracing paperless office practices, we prioritize electronic documentation. If printed paper is necessary, we encourage reuse.
● Sustainable Commuting:
We actively promote the use of public transportation, such as subway systems, among our employees."
Starting from the base year of 2023, we are committed to achieving significant energy and environmental improvements by 2024 and beyond. Our targets include:
- Reducing electricity consumption by a minimum of 2% in 2024, calculated based on the company's unit output value, compared to 2023.
- Achieving a minimum 2% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in 2024, relative to the levels recorded in 2023.
- Increasing the utilization of photovoltaic green electricity by 1% in 2024, compared to the previous year.
- By 2030, our aim is to achieve a minimum reduction of 20% in total annual net greenhouse gas emissions, using 2021 as the reference year.
- Looking further ahead, our ultimate ambition is to attain net-zero total annual greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
By adopting these practices, offices can not only save on energy costs but also contribute to a healthier and more sustainable environment. Additionally, it can also enhance the company's reputation and promote a culture of sustainability among employees.
Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.
We organize public welfare activities on marine pollution and accompany professional security personnel to clean up garbage in safe sea areas every year.
Environmental Education
1.We take family members to participate in tree planting activities and other relative projects every year.
2. We take children to participate in environmental protection public welfare activities;
3. We disseminate environmental education internally and to our partner, surrounding people.
We are working hard to find bio-based, recyclable, degradable and environmentally friendly materials
We provide more environmentally friendly solutions in terms of formulations according to customer needs. For example, recommending hydrogenated resins, or lower odor, lower VOC products.
We supply more environmentally friendly polymers and improve performance while reducing the amount of adhesive required;
We offer higher softening point or other suitable products to reduce the overall usage of chemicals.
